Over the week, you will be creating your own piece of theatre, from scratch, with some of Somerset’s most exciting professional theatre makers. During the action-packed four days working with Somerset Youth Theatre, you will make an original play that you will perform at the end of the week. And there’s more… During the week, you’ll learn how to stage a fight scene and perform in an epic battle as professional actors teach you the skills and techniques of Stage Combat.

Stage Combat - Ever wondered how actors make those stage fights look so real? Work together with our team of professional actors to learn the skills of stage combat. From sword fights, hair grabs, to stage slaps and upper cuts - these workshops will teach you how to become a disciplined and convincing stage-fighting actor, understanding the techniques needed to grab the audience’s attention. Work together to build an epic stage battle in 3 days, and perform to the audience on the 4th day!
No matter your age, Stage Combat is super fun, high energy and suitable for all young people!

Silly Stories - Learn the skills to create your own play that is sure to make your audience laugh (and maybe even cry!). Taking local stories, participants will work together to make a play in 3 days, with rehearsal and performance to the audience on the 4th day. Hone your skills in acting and/or directing - the choice is yours. No experience necessary, and a willingness to play a must!

What specialist provision if any will you have for SEND and how should families access this?: Somerset Youth Theatre will contact parents/carers prior to the activity to discuss the young person’s needs. Coloured paper and overlays as well as Large Print instructions/scripts will be provided as necessary.
